Spiritus Article

September, 2011

What a great beginning we’ve had to the school year! The numbers of students that participate in our programs continue to increase. We’re most happy about the increase in participation among the students at our 3 daily Masses. The Eucharist is at the center of what we do at the Blessed John Paul II Newman Center. The Second Vatican Council said “the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Church’s life.”  We offer Eucharistic celebrations that are filled with joy and good music. Our liturgical ministers come from among the student community who then will bring that enthusiasm and commitment to their local parish.

We welcome to our staff Dr. Kenneth Howell who will be the Senior Fellow in our School of Catholic Thought; and Fr. Sean LaBat who will be the Senior Fellow for the Integrites Institute for Ethics,   Molly Mungovan who will be the director of campus programs.  Three New FOCUS Missionaries will develop more Bible studies.

If you ever have the opportunity, please come down and visit us.  See the joy and excitement among the Catholic students through the ministry of the Blessed John Paul II Newman Center.
