School of Catholic Thought

The School of Catholic Thought is the newest branch of the John Paul II Newman Center at the University of Illinois Chicago.

Operating in parallel to the Integritas Institute for Ethics which provides programming in business and medical ethics for the university community and the diocese as well, the SCT heightens the ability of the John Paul II Newman Center to serve the needs of the students and the Archdiocese.

The School of Catholic Thought strives to foster an environment of intellectual inquiry, teaching, and mentorship which will form college students — as well as Catholic School administrators and teachers during the Summer Institutes — in a deep understanding of history, philosophy, and theology in the vein of a classic liberal arts education. Many who study within the School will bring specialized knowledge in the sciences and the humanities to their ongoing task of learning. The SCT will help them enhance their pursuit of wisdom transmitted through and developed by the richness of the Catholic intellectual heritage.
